Get to Know Our Founder!
Have you always lived in California?
Nope, I grew up in New Jersey, went to college in Virginia, and did a quick stop in Columbus, Ohio before landing in San Francisco.
Favorite vacation spot in California?
Lake Tahoe, because I love the beach and the mountains equally. Some days in Spring, you can paddle board and snowboard on the same day! (I love to do both)
What do you like to do when you're not running Brave Birds?
I'm a huge music nerd and you can always find me seeing live music. I spend way too much money on concert tickers!
Dogs or cats?
Both! We have a rescue pup named Sage and we had a cat named Princess Mouse for 11 years. She just passed away a few months ago - I was crushed and cried for days and days - she was my feline soul mate! Maybe a new kitten soon?
Favorite Food?
Guacamole, hands down. Avocado on everything, I say! (And I've got a sticker for that)
Scariest moment as a business owner?
Taking the plunge to do my first trade show. It's not a small investment, and all my retail experience has been in DTC. Thankfully, the Greeting Card Association's *Noted Expo was the perfect entry point with a super supportive community. I was pleasantly surprised to write orders for shops from NYC to Oklahoma to Maui!
Favorite Brave Birds product?
Ooh, that's tough but I'd have to say our tea towels. I use them every day in my kitchen, they're such a great vehicle for fun prints, and they make a perfect, easy gift!
